Best eBooks for Pilates Teachers
Dec 17, 2024There are so many great Pilates and movement books on the market, many of them not cheap, so I found it very hard to decide which ones are going to get a permanent spot in my eReader library (and my brain). So, to help you decide which ones to prioritize, here's my list of the best electronic books for the Pilates instructor.
The eBooks (and audiobooks) in this list are perfect for the Pilates or movement enthusiast in your life (or even yourself). These books can be sent in seconds. No waiting, no shipping, no last-minute panic. Just a few clicks, and you’re all set!
And, just in case you're a newbie to ebooks: the recipient does not need a special device, they can read it on any computer, smartphone, or tablet. Because this is the 21st century! 😅
Here’s how it works in Amazon:
- Head to the book’s Amazon page and click on the Kindle version.
- Click “Buy for Others”.
- Add the recipient’s email and a quick note, and send it off. You can even schedule it to be sent on a specific day!
- Pro tip: If they’ve already read it, Amazon lets them exchange it for a gift card. Easy peasy!
Here’s how it works in Apple Books:
- Head to the Apple Books app on your device.
- Find the book in the library (or click on the link in the list below).
- In the top right corner, click the ... (three dots), then choose Send Gift.
- Enter the recipient's email address and an additional message.
- Choose the delivery date.
- Complete the sale and Done. 😀👍
Heads up: This post contains affiliate links, which allow me to continue offering tons of excellent free content on this site. Rest assured, I only recommend stuff I love.

Return to Life Through Contrology and Your Health by Joseph Pilates | Combo Edition
A must-read straight from the man himself. The only two books he ever wrote. A true treasure trove of quotes and reasons to do Pilates. I pretty much highlighted the whole book.
Movement by Gray Cook
Learn how to understand movement in a whole new way.
Principles of Movement by Dr. Brent Anderson
A deep dive into the science of movement from the founder of Polestar Pilates.
A Guide to Better Movement. The Science and Practice of Moving With More Skill and Less Pain by Todd Hargrove
Practical insights to improve movement and reduce pain. In his first book, Todd gives the movement teacher the words to convey how Pilates works in the body. Why more is not better and how the brain and muscles work together. His emphasis on "skill" helps move the movement instruction narrative away from mindless reps to thinking about how you're moving, something we all need to get better at when communicating with our students.

While not geared toward Pilates, it’s perfect for anyone dreaming of starting a Pilates business. I recommend this book to anyone deciding what type of Pilates business they should start. I wish I had found this book earlier in my career. Do not delay on this one. It's a quick read and will prevent you lots of heartache down the road.
